Our Mission
Zion Lutheran Church of Loudonville, Ohio confesses to be made up of ordinary people in the whole community of believers in Jesus Christ, caring for the needs of others by sharing the Word and Sacraments.



Our Vision
This congregation commits itself to ministering to the needs of its members and the broader community in the situation and conditions in which its members are placed by using talents and abilities God has given its individual members.

THIS WEEK AT ZION
THE CONFIRMATION BANQUET will be held this week Wednesday, May 14th at 6:00 p.m. in the basement fellowship hall. The Confirmands and their families; Congregational Council members and spouses; and staff/spouses have been invited to attend the dinner and brief program followed by confirmation Sunday rehearsal. The class will be presenting their banner, and take home their robes for Sunday. A big thanks to the Parish Fellowship Committee and the first year confirmation class for preparing and serving the meal. The first year confirmation class will meet for study after the banquet with Mrs. "B".

THE CONFIRMATION CLASS will be asked to come to church and Pastor's office next Sunday before we go to the sanctuary at 9:00 a.m. for pictures. Please be prompt! Families are welcome to come and take pictures at the same time. Our Confirmation photographer is Joann Utterback. Thanks, Joann!

THE ZION STAFF will meet at Angelwood this coming Friday for a special breakfast and fellowship time to celebrate their ministry together and wish God speed to those who are retiring and moving on to new ministries. The office will be open as always from 8:00 a.m. ~ noon.

THE SECOND YEAR CONFIRMATION CLASS has been invited by Pastor and Royce to Whispering Hills on Saturday, May 17th for a fun day from noon to 4:00 p.m. We will have a picnic at noon and then plenty of fun activities for the afternoon. We will be picking up members of the class at Zion at 11:30 a.m.

THE ZION LUTHER LEAGUE is planning a 'scavenger hunt' for the new Confirmands on Sunday, May 18th in the evening beginning at 5:15 a.m. Meet in the parking lot for rides. The group will wind up at George and Shirley Haudenschild's for fellowship after the hunt.

NEW MEMBER RECEPTION is tentatively planned for Sunday, June 8th at the 8:00 a.m. praise service with a coffee fellowship and reception to follow provided by the Parish Fellowship and Evangelism committees.

ZION FAMILY NEWS
OUR SYNOD BISHOP, PASTOR ELIZABETH EATON, will be attending the first half of the Congregational Council meeting on Thursday, May 22nd at 7:00 p.m. to help explain and begin the call process for bringing a new pastor to Zion. The Congregational Council will keep you apprised of that meeting and the progress it is making in this important call process.

ALL YEAR END COMMITTEE REPORTS are to be handed in at the May 22, 2008 Congregational Council meeting, or to Kathy in the office before the 22nd. The June 2008 Semi-Annual Meeting of the congregation will be on June 22 and copies of the semi-annual report will be available at the back of the Sanctuary beginning on Sunday June 8, 2008. Typically reports from the following people, committees and organizations are to be included: Pastor, Council President, Zion Treasurer, Blue Ribbon, Church & Community, Evangelism, Fellowship, Finance, FOCUS, Fund Committees (Endowment), Music, Parish Education, Parish Nurses, Praise Team, Property & Grounds, 3C Committees, Stewardship, Valley View Christian Pre-School, Vision, Women of Zion, Worship, WZLP, and Youth.

PT &COMPANY , the morning variety show that runs from 7:00 ~ 8:00 a.m. will bring its almost 5 year run to a close on Friday, June 13, 2008 with a special two hour program. Members of the PT & Company crew, guests, radio board members and any one who would like to come and join us for that farewell program are encouraged to join us on that day. More information about the special day will be shared on the upcoming morning shows. Thanks to all those who were loyal listeners and enjoyed laughing way too early in the morning!

HELPING HANDS (P.O. Box 274 Loudonville) Currently the Pantry is in need of: soda crackers, pancake mix, Syrup, Carnation milk, muffin mix, Jello, juice, tea bags, Kleenex, shampoo, laundry soap, ketchup, mustard, sugar, fruit, beef broth, cream of mushroom soup, pork & beans, spaghetti sauce, egg noodles, ramen noodles, salt & pepper. As always, we are in need of funds to help with area emergency utility expenses. Your continued support is greatly appreciated!

THE LATE SERVICE THIS MORNING is being broadcast "live" over the church radio station, WZLP, 95.7 FM. A re-broadcast of the Prayer and Praise Service is on Tuesdays at 2:00 p.m.

THE HELPING OUR HOMETOWN HEROES box is filling up nicely. Please remember to take a list of the items needed by our service people, and bring what you can and place it in the "Big Red Box" for that purpose at the back of the sanctuary.

RELAY FOR LIFE is collecting change as a fundraiser. If you have any "spare change" in your pocket or wallet, please drop it in the jar on the information table in the back of the sanctuary. Thank you - Bill Gorrell

THE SINGLES SUPPORT GROUP will meet May 19 at 10:00am. We will be going to the 2008 'Positive Ageing Expo' at the Richland County fairgrounds. For further information contact Janet Young or Charlotte Lavinder.

OVER 80 BIRTHDAY CARD SHOWER
To honor our Zion Family, a Birthday Card shower program has been started. Each month names, dates and addresses will appear in the bulletin and Rainbow newsletter. Please "Shower" our members with cards, a phone call, a visit or all three. Hopefully the Birthday list is complete.
